CIFNET 

Cifnet is a central government institute that comes under Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers welfare.  Its headquarters is at Kochi(Kerala) with its two subdivisions at Chennai (Tamilnadu)   , Visakhapatnam (Andhra pradesh) . The institute is functioning from 1963  with a view to develop the marine sector of India .

VNC - Vessel Navigator Course

BFsc[Ns]

  This is a 4 year professional degree course which offers you a dual degree certificate in Bsc fishery science and Bsc Nautical science. The selection of the candidates for this course is based on a Common Entrance Test CET conducted by the institute from which the rank upto 100 will be selected . The selected candidates will have an interview and 32 are selected , all others will be in waiting list and later may get a chance if seat is vacant. There are reservations for SC,ST and OBC + 1 NRI Seat. The selected candidates will undergo a medical test conducted by DG Shipping approved doctors , if you are unfit , at this time you will be eliminated . Eye sight is an important factor , make sure you don't have any colour blindness. The classes will commence soon after admission . You will be having a one month swimming class . The exams are conducted by CUSAT cochin university of science and technology .

 The course  teaches about navigation and fisheries , Hence you are having the opportunity to opt nautical side or fisheries side after your graduation. This is a central government institute so , you may not have a colorful campus life still the life in cifnet is colorful! 

 The institute have a vessel owned by the president of India and the trainees will have 1 day sailing initially in Arabian sea and later Voyage which extends upto 8 days . This will help you to experience life at sea and will make you fit to defeat tides! The experience from voyage is really memorable with astonishing beauty of the sea.

The best part is that , since this is a central government institute the expenses for students is very less and you can study this course with lower expense at nowhere in the world.
